Most would agree mankind is facing problems in our day on a never before seen scale. Problems humankind have never seen or even imagined! We see little children encouraged to try and surgically change their sex by people who purport to love them... (1 Cor 6:9-11; 1 Tim 1:8-11) What do you really imagine God thinks about that? (Gen 6:5-8; Gen 19:4-13 of 1-16) It seems everywhere we look things are only bad. We probably all know someone who says they don't want to watch the news; because it is all bad. Others encourage us to ignore it as they say: "Don't worry, it's all in your mind. Things have always been bad." (2 Pet 3:1-7) Really? Mankind is beset by problems for the first time on a world wide scale. Please consider, though: Could such terrible conditions actually be a reason for hope? Jesus said "promised" they would! He said these terrible conditions on the earth should be the sign for his followers that he was present during the time of his return; and they should lift up their heads. (Luke 21:26&28 of 25-32) Not in the sense of taking joy in the suffering of others, of course, but joy in looking up to the heavens and recognizing the source of our deliverance; and joy from realizing it is finally happening. Always remember: God did not cause disaster on the earth. Mankind caused it by their disobedience. God has wonderfully provided a means to escape the destruction we have brought upon ourselves. (Matthew 24:22)[God will soon step in (at Armageddon) to stop the pain and suffering we have caused; by destroying the remaining wicked (those not yet killed by the tribulation) as He establishes righteous forever. (Revelation 19:19-21) Righteous men were not mentioned there in Rev 19 describing God's fight against the wicked. Righteous people will not need to fight. (2 Chronicles 20:17a) They are the peaceable. (Matthew 5:9)] Please note in verses 30 and 31 of Luke 21, Jesus stated we should make use these terrible conditions to identify where we are in time. From Bible prophecy and world conditions, then, what should we be expecting in our day? That is most important for us to know isn't it? What is God doing in our day in time, and how will we be impacted? How can we support what God is doing? Or, very most importantly, how can we be certain we are choosing his side? (Deuteronomy 30:19-20; Luke 13:26-27 of 23-38)
The stream of time producing these conditions, and which God has tolerated even in our sinful imperfection, is a period for God to work out his purpose toward the earth and humankind. (Mal 3:16-4:3) [יהוה is the Hebrew Name of God as it appears in the original Old Testament text. (Exo 31:18)]In trying to understand where we are in that period of time of the last days of God's grace toward our sinful condition, and thus what we should expect for our future, let us start by taking a brief look at what men of bygone days looked forward to. Remember again, all that has happened has been allowed by God; and consider that nothing can thwart God's original purpose for the earth. At creation, יהוה gave men freedom to choose to be upright and noble. The fact some of them refused to love him and be faithful did not change his purpose; or question his Creation or that He would accomplish that purpose. (Isa 55:11) His creative work was perfect, so God knew some of his earthly sons and daughters would prove faithful. (Genesis 1:31) What has happened since our creation, is the result of God having given us [sinful mankind] the time and the opportunity to show we love what is good. (Mal 3:16-4:3) Remember, God's stated purpose was to have Adam and Eve populate the earth and have it in subjection. (Genesis 1:26) They were to become a whole multitude of people who worshiped and loved their Creator; and who loved each other. God created them to live at peace and in harmony on their earthly home. For about 2000 years, then, starting from Adam's day in around 4000 BCE (or 6000 years ago), until Abraham's day in about 2000 BCE (or 4000 years ago), mankind looked forward to a promised "seed of the woman" who would appear and destroy satan. (1 John 3:8) All righteously inclined individuals found hope in that promise made in Eden, recorded at Genesis 3:15. During mankind's early history, then, their only hope was the seed of the woman and they knew little about who he would prove to be.
Then, 2000 years after God's promise to Eve and Adam, in around 2000 BCE (and about 4000 years ago), we are introduced to a faithful man named Abraham. God then built upon and extended the Edenic covenant as He promised Abraham the seed of the woman would come through Abraham's line. From Abraham's day forward then, faithful mankind focused their attention on that Savior who would come through that nation of people started by Abraham: The Jewish nation of Israel. The appearance of the seed was getting nearer, and mankind now knew he would come from the Jews. (John 4:22) As faithful mankind kept in expectation of the promised seed, much information was given in prophecy about that seed, including when he would appear. While they didn't have our modern calendar system for counting years, because of Bible prophecy, mankind started looking forward to what we now know as the year 31 CE for the appearance of the promised seed.[Our modern calendar system is actually centered or based on the birth of Jesus. Pretty solid reason, just by itself, to place faith in the Son of God.]
Right at the prophesied time, in 31 CE, Jesus presented himself to be baptized as the messiah promised so many years before. The messiah had finally (finally from man's perspective) arrived. Jesus presented himself to provide the ransom sacrifice, but his first appearance actually started another period of waiting and something new to look forward to. Although faithful Jews expected Jesus to reestablish God's kingdom on earth at that first appearance, (Luke 19:11)(Acts 1:6)Jesus taught his followers he would go away and they should be waiting, and watching, for his second appearance as the reigning king of God's kingdom. The ascension by Jesus after his death and resurrection (Acts 1:9-11) thus started a third 2000 year period of waiting. The Jews, of course, had prophecies relating both to his first coming as the ransom sacrifice, and to his second coming as king of Creation, (1 Cor 15:12-28) but many didn't understand, and mistakenly imagined he would accomplish both his assignments at his first appearance. Jesus corrected them and taught he would go away for a period and then return, as king. (Luke 19:9-12)From Jesus's being resurrected into heaven in 36 CE then, mankind has been waiting for his return as ruling king of all Creation. (1 Cor 15:12-28)
Sadly for those without faith, our concern for our place on God's timetable is foolishness in their mind. (1 Cor 1:21) If I am wrong and hope in Christ's teachings actually is foolishness, things will go on as before and all these woes upon the earth (Rev 12:12) can be disregarded. If, though, these words reflect an accurate recognition of God's purpose, the tribulation destroying this world will continue to get rapidly worse; because God said it would. (Mat 24:3-8; Luke 21:25-28) Pay attention and learn what the Bible teaches! If conditions on earth do continue to get rapidly worse, remember Bible truth and make yourself a compliant subject of Christ's Kingdom. If you can gain enough knowledge of "truth" to "have real faith" in Christ for salvation, it will gain you your very life. Don't believe the lie that just knowing Jesus's name is enough. (Mat 7:21-23) How much knowledge of what Christ said is required for your salvation is certainly between you and God. The Bible indicates you must, however, "know" both Christ and his Father! (John 17:3; Pro 30:4) Remember the wife of Lot: (Luke 17:32) Like people in our day, the people of Lot's day tried to ignore God's warning, and to go on with the life they considered "normal." Lot's wife knew the "truth," but longed for her old way of life. You must have real faith both that God is changing things; and, that his way is better perfect! (Heb 11:6) You must be willing to give your very life, rather than deny that hope is true. (Mat 10:39 of 32-39) According to Bible prophecy, in around 1914 CE, Christ took his throne in heaven, seen only by those with eyes of faith. (2 Kings 6:15-17) As God's appointed King of creation, (1 Cor 15:12-28) he started separating the righteous from the unrighteous. (Matthew 25:31-33) The problems we witness on the earth represent the absolute and eternal proof [touchstone (Mat 21:42-44)] that Christ's kingdom is an absolute necessity, and the Bible promises tell us it is present. (Matthew 24:32-35) Today, over half the worlds population is starving, and that is just the first problem we mention. There is scarcely anyone who is not touched in some way by the pain and suffering of one of the so many problems facing mankind. We strive to go on with life, to care for ourselves and our family to the best of our ability. But to go on imagining we should or even can pursue a happy and "normal" life seems unrealistic. We rather raise our heads in the hope our deliverance is getting near.(Luke 21:28)It would seem the appearance of Jesus in the heavens around 1914 started a new period of waiting for mankind, giving a new definition to what we should look forward to.Please review some brief Bible history. Since Jesus is now seated in heaven, separating the righteous from the wicked, we await the time when Jesus returns the kingdom to his God and Father.(1 Corinthians 15:28) There is something very special and wonderful about this period in the outworking of God's purpose: Before Jesus returns the kingdom to his Father, all Creation will have been returned to perfection. (Isa 11:1-12) Besides a separation work being done in our day, there is also a restoration work. Mankind will be brought back to the perfect state of Eden before sin. (Job 33:13-30) They will be brought to the perfect conditions God purposed for them at creation. (Mat 25:31-34) This is a wondrous time to be alive. Do you believe? (John 11:26)
